Tomahawks Fall To Southington

The Southington Knights used 2 big innings to over-run the Tomahawks, 13-0, in a CCC North game. The Knights sent 10 hitters to the plate in both the 3rd & 7th innings, scoring 11 of their 13 runs, 9 of which were unearned. In those 2 innings, Southington cracked 7 of their 11 hits, drew 3 walks & had a hit by pitch. Four strategically placed Tomahawk errors opened the drawbridge for the Knights.

Solid pitching limited the Tomahawks to 2 hits for the game, Kevin O'Connell's infield single to lead off the bottom of the 2nd inning & Alex Hanelt's line drive single to left-center field leading off the bottom of the 5th inning. The T'Hawks only threat came in the bottom of the 3rd when they were able to load the bases with 2 outs but were unable to push across any runs.

Ben Sellew was the Tomahawks starting pitcher, surrendering 2 earned runs in 6 innings. Joe Spero & Jimmy Hill combined to pitch the 7th inning, giving up 1 earned run.

2nd baseman Josh Barrett turned in a sparkling defensive play in the top of the 2nd inning.

The Tomahawks record now stands at 2-2 in CCC North play, 7-3 overall. The T'Hawks visit CCC North rivals Simsbury on Wednesday @ 3:45pm @ Memorial Field in Simsbury.
