Captains Elected....

Teammates have selected seniors David Johnston, Spencer Haymond, Joe Spero & Josh Barrett as captains for the 2009 season.

David, a 2 year letter winner, was a starting pitcher for the 08 Tomahawks. He led that pitching staff in wins and strikeouts. Dave is expected to anchor this year’s pitching staff in addition to seeing action at 3rd base and as a designated hitter. Dave has committed to Eastern Connecticut State University to continue his baseball exploits on the collegiate level.

Josh, an 08 letter winner, was a CCC North All-Conference selection as a junior. A 2nd baseman by trade, Josh developed into one of the Tomahawks’ top hitters last year highlighted by a 5 for 5 performance in his 1st start of the year at New Britain. Josh’s collegiate plans are undecided as of now. He does hope to continue playing on the collegiate level.

Spencer, an 08 letter winner, moves to shortstop for this season after splitting time last year as starter at both 2nd base and right field. In addition to solid defense, Spence chipped in with 23 hits last year. Spence’s collegiate plans are undecided as of now.

Joe, an 08 letter winner, is expected to be a key contributor to this year’s pitching staff, both as a starter & reliever. Joe chipped in last year with several strong pitching performances. Joe’s collegiate plans are undecided as of now. He does hope to continue playing on the collegiate level
